FLAVOURS OF SCOTLAND DINNER – SHROPSHIRE, in aid of Westie ReHoming

The Flavours of Scotland Dinner last week was a tremendous success and people are still buzzing/talking/tweeting about it with great enthusiasm. The Scottish fayre was amazing, the restaurant and service fantastic. The lady who organised the whole event, Sandra, came up with the idea of hosting the dinner to celebrate the tenth anniversary of her being a volunteer for Westie ReHoming. What a lovely thing to do, and an example of what super people we have on board.

The final total has yet to come in, but I know that it has well exceeded Sandra’s expectations. One of the fourteen auction prizes alone generated £220! It was an Indian meal for 6 cooked in the bidder’s home. Several items topped £100, including a watercolour portrait of the bidder’s pet and a local print by Torn Paper Artist Lyn Evans. So many incredible prizes: silver jewellery, handmade one-off cushions by local designers, wool pillows, various bottles of wine and spirits, a Beeswax Scotland gift basket, a garden-themed hamper, whiskies and Harris Tweed hip flask, wool one-off handmade clutch bag, a doggie hamper, wool-felted sheep picture and over a dozen original gifts donated for the prize draw, which was included in the ticket price. All in all, everyone had a wonderful time and thought that it was exceptional value for money.

This has been our main fundraiser for 2017, coming in a month where our vet bills for the month almost reached £2,000, and so the support from everyone was really welcome. A massive THANK YOU to Sandra for all her very hard work and attention to detail which was so much appreciated by everyone, as well as getting the bills paid.
